Amanda Seyfried Engaged; Why is Her Engagement Ring Controversial?

More than Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski's engagement, what's making rounds as topics in forums is the actress' engagement ring. It is not people expect it to be.

The "Mean Girls" actress is proud of her "minimalist" engagement ring and wore it while walking on the streets of New York City, E! News said. The ring, a gold band, is probably one of the simplest engagement ring the world has ever seen on a celebrity.

Amanda Seyfried's engagement ring is a far cry from flashy rings with cushion-cut diamond or embellished with gems of all sorts given to celebrities. Mariah Carey's 35-carat ring, given to her by fiancé James Packer, drew everyone's attention. Recently, rapper Tyga had given Kylie cosmetics owner Kylie Jenner a promise ring. The promise ring's diamond was as huge as a pebble!

There is absolutely nothing wrong in celebrities receiving a hundred-thousand or even a million-dollar worth of ring but there is also nothing wrong in getting a simple diamond-less, gold ring as that of Amanda Seyfried's.

This just proves that love can't be bought with money. Maybe the ring symbolizes how simple she is, how down to earth she really is and how she looks past beyond materialism.

Besides, she is not at all alone. "Many women actually prefer to keep a subtle ring on their finger when it comes to an engagement," Vogue said. Amanda Seyfried is just being criticized because of her celebrity status.

E!News reported that the two first started working together in a stage production titled "The Way We Get By." Thomas Sadoski and Amanda Seyfried also worked together in the film "The Last Word," which will be released this year.

Thomas Sadoski is an actor who is popular for the sitcom "Life in Pieces." Amanda Seyfried's works include "Ted 2," "Mamma Mia!" and "Red Riding Hood."
