Bobbi Kristina Update: New Book Reveals Whitney Houston's Daughter was a Drug Addict, Suicidal at 14

A new book that touches on the life of the late Grammy-winning singer, Whitney Houston, claimed that her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, had been on a misguided path at a young age. Ian Halperin, the author behind the unauthorized biography, "Whitney & Bobbi Kristina: The Deadly Price of Fame," claims that Bobbi was around 14 years old when she started experimenting with drugs and displayed suicidal tendencies. She would, unfortunately, never stand a chance to correct this.

Halperin described Bobbi Kristina as "a wild child who grew up essentially motherless" in the book, according to NY Daily News. The author said that he received the information to write the stories from the star's family members and people close to Houston and her daughter.

He cited that Whitney, who herself was a drug addict, was with Bobbi Kristina when she went to rehab in 2005. Her daughter was barely a teenager then and was already exposed to her mom's lifestyle. Then, after her divorce from Bobby Brown in 2007, Whitney allegedly left Bobbi Kristina to take care of herself. The young child was so accustomed to having little of her mother's presence in her life that it had been too difficult to bring her back to the right path.

A relative allegedly disclosed that Bobbi Kristina tried to stab Whitney and was then sent to a psychiatric hospital when she was 15-years-old. She also attempted to cut her wrist, according to Inquisitr. The relationship between mother and daughter went downhill from there as Houston's own drug problems grew worse.

The author surmised that one of the reasons why Whitney's life became out of control was because of the fact that she was barred from ever admitting that she was in a lesbian relationship with Robyn Crawford, a long-time friend. The story alleged that back in the '90s, Whitney's father paid off people to keep quiet about the affair, and in that same year, Bobby Brown entered the picture and became Whitney's husband.

The book comes out just six months after Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization due to a drug overdose. Like her mother, she was found unconscious in the bathtub. The celebrity's child, now 22-years-old, has remained in a coma since the incident. The doctors have stated that she will not likely regain consciousness and the damages to her brain are irreversible, according to Daily Mail.

Helperin theorizes that Bobbi Kristina may have done "the plunge" by mistake, which lead to her current condition. The plunge is when someone who has overdosed is immersed in cold water, according to the NY Daily News report.
