'X-Men:Apocalypse' Star Hugh Jackman Reveals Why He's Done With Wolverine, It Boils Down to Food

Wolverine is a much-loved X-Men and Marvel character by adults and kids a like. Earlier this year actor Hugh Jackman confirmed that the third installment of the popular "Wolverine" series will be the actor's final film for the franchise.

While fans mend their broken hearts, Entertainment Tonight has just revealed the real reason why he can't be the clawed mutant any longer.

"It was a gut feeling," said the 46-year-old. "I don't know how many more egg white omelettes I can eat."
Along with "Wolverine 3," audiences expect to see Jackman in the upcoming X-Men movie, "X-Men: Apocalypse" as well.

"Deadpool" Stand Alone

With two Marvel movies lined up, other reports indicate we may be seeing Hugh's Wolverine make an appearance in Ryan Reynolds' "Deadpool" film set for release in 2016.

With Reynolds already working on the production of "Deadpool," a spin-off from the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," an interview with Australia News Unlimited notes that the actor is keen to have Jackman on board.

When the interviewer asked, "Is your old mate Wolverine -- aka Hugh Jackman -- going to pop up in "Deadpool?" Reynolds was more than willing to have Jackman appear.

"God I hope so, that would be really nice. I dunno, we'll see. It seems like he's open to it, but it's gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else."

The background of Wolverine and Deadpool are intertwined given that both were parts of experiments that increased their abilities to superpowers.

Per MTV UK (via Uproxx), Jackman himself said in an interview he's open to the idea but didn't say anything further. "They [Wolverine and Deadpool] are definitely enemies in the comics, and they always spark off well together, so, I'd be open to that idea."

"Wolverine 3" Plot Details

As it stands, no plot details have been revealed about the upcoming film except for the confirmation that it won't be overlapping with other X-Men or Wolverine films. Cinema Blend does note that, "Rumors of Patrick Stewart reprising Professor X have been a definite highlight, and it could mark the end of the X-Men universe created by Bryan Singer. "

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is due to hit theaters on May 27, 2016 while "Wolverine 3" is expected to be released on March 3, 2017.
