Ronda Rousey Comes Out of Retirement, Gets UFC Title Shot

Former UFC champion and mixed martial arts superstar, Ronda Rousey, plans on making a return to Octagon, and will get an immediate title shot for the women's bantamweight belt that she formerly held.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey was the biggest name in the mixed martial arts world, going undefeated for three years and reigned as one of the most dominating champions in UFC history, with guest appearances in a handful of TV shows and movies, Rousey undoubtedly put mixed martial arts on the map, until the night she lost her UFC belt.

Now, Rousey has the opportunity to once again reclaim her crown as the queen of women's MMA, as she was rumored to be offered a title shot at the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 207, against current champion, Amanda Nunez. According to Metro UK, UFC President, Dana White, has made the effort to bring the former Olympic champion back into the Octagon.

Rousey's long time trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan, has told ESPN that there are already discussions being made regarding her UFC return, which will be later in the year, on December 30 in Las Vegas. While there's still no guarantees that the fight will indeed take place, Tarverdyan is confident that Rousey will come out the victor, saying that the former champion will be in the best shape she has ever been, when she makes her return.

The current champion, Nunez, is currently on a four fight winning streak, and won her title by defeating Meisha Tate in the main event of the historic UFC 200 card. Nunez looks to be the favorite in a fight against Rousey, with the latter not making any public appearances for over a year.

Rousey was dethroned by Holly Holm at UFC 193, via a spectacular knockout in the second round of the fight. Rousey has been missing in action and stayed under the radar since the devastating loss, and has been quiet about her comeback to the UFC ever since, and many even questioned if the former champion would retire from the sport.
