Families: Key In Bridging Decades Of Racial Gaps

For the past fifty years, the educational disparity between black and white communities is predominant in the United States. Students who have the initial advantage of being born in white families with stable marriages seemed to have more likely to have educational advantage compared to those in black and Hispanic families.

Studies show that white students are the most likely to have better socio-economic advantage, completed education and landed on better career opportunities. Poverty can be one factor but a stable family, host of associated conditions, divorced, single parent and the likes are some of the most common denominators of a child's educational attainment and perspective.

The fact that more blacks, end up as single parents paved the way of what a black child would become. Either ways, these kids reportedly have more chances to end up on the streets instead of getting college degrees.

Whether people like it or not, Americans remain highly segregated. Sean Reardon, the Professor of Poverty and Inequality of Education at Stanford said it is relatively well known that black families on average are living in poorer neighborhoods but a lot of people presume that's simply because black families are poorer. But if that was all there was to it, you will find poor whites living in the same kind of suburb as poor as the blacks. What researchers found, however, was that even blacks who have the same household as whites lives in poorer neighborhood.

According to the Institute of Family Studies, the share of married-parent family in the country is one of the highest predictions of high school rate graduation in Florida Counties. in fact, it's considered more powerful compared to family income, race or ethnicity.

Apart from the family, any plans to address the racial divide should also bridge the education gap. Townhall stressed the effectivelly address these issues, the plans should focus in strengthening families first.

In conclusion, family is the basic unit of the society and the major contributor to these ancient old gaps between interracial set ups. One of the ways to gear toward healing should start at everyone's home.
