‘Luke Cage’ TV Series: Season 2 Heroes For Hire Storyline Confirmed? Is Cage Team Cap Or Team Stark? Mike Colter Reveals

All 13 episodes of "Luke Cage" Season 1 will debut on Netflix a few days (Sept. 30) from now. The superhero drama starring Mike Colter in the titular role will be Marvel's third Netflix project after "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones." Though "Luke Cage" is still far from a second season, there are already talks about what Season 2 will offer to viewers -- and that's the Heroes for Hire storyline of the "Luke Cage" comic books the series was based on.

"Luke Cage" showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker revealed the possibility of a Heroes for Hire storyline in an interview with Decider. In the comics, Heroes for Hire was originally a one-man profit-driven business founded by Luke Cage. Eventually, he sought the help of Danny Rand/Iron Fist, a martial arts expert who will also have his own Netflix show with Finn Jones in the titular role.

Marvel's official site describes the Heroes for Hire business venture as a "superhuman security and investigation services for a fee." The enterprise is highly different from other superhero groups such as The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and The Defenders. The latter's members, for instance, can be interchangeable according to their superhuman abilities to deal with the current mission.

Coker told Decider that the first season of "Luke Cage" will be about "the evolution of a hero" instead of the Heroes for Hire storyline, though it will definitely come into play soon. However, Netflix has to greenlight a second season first before the concept comes to fruition.

Coker added, "We're not treating [the show] as a one-off, and I'm confident people will dig the show, but, trust me, like season 2, I've got a few ideas. But we really won't get ready until Netflix sees the viewership, and hopefully the subscriptions that will come from this show, and then they'll say, 'Let's get into it.'"

According to Screen Rant, it makes sense that the Heroes for Hire arc will be on "Luke Cage" Season 2. Iron Fist has to be introduced to the small screen first in 2017 before a team-up between Luke Cage and Danny Rand happens.

"Luke Cage" exists in the same universe as the more popular Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. When asked in an interview whether Luke would be Team Cap or Team Stark, Colter said his character would be like, "Who's paying more?"

Luke Cage already appeared on the first season of "Jessica Jones," which starred Krysten Ritter. Also starring on "Luke Cage" are Simone Missick (Misty), Mahershala Ali (Cottonmouth), Frankie Faison (Pops), Theo Rossi (Shades), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), and Frank Whaley (Rafael), TVLine listed.
