‘Doctor Strange’ Is Crossing To ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ in 2018, Benedict Cumberbatch Confirms; ‘Doctor Strange’ Eye of Agamotto Marvel’s Fifth Infinity Stone?

Benedict Cumberbatch who plays the character of "Doctor Strange" reportedly confirmed that he is going to cast alongside Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany who all portray characters in the upcoming "Avengers" film. This suggests that "Avengers: Infinity War" may also see the appearance of the neurosurgeon Stephen Strange turned Marvel hero Doctor Strange.

Cumberbatch hinted that his character will be introduced to the "Avengers movie" during his interview with Express. He noted the "logistical challenge of aligning his schedule" with the "Avengers" stars. He also revealed that the appearance of "Doctor Strange" in "Avengers: Infinity War" may open up the film's next chapter.

It is suggested that "Doctor Strange" is an important character in "Avengers: Infinity War" if the film will dig deeper into Thanos' search for the six Infinity Stones. "Doctor Strange's" Eye of Agamotto is apparently the fifth Infinity Stone found in Marvel movies. In the first official photos of Cumberbatch as "Doctor Strange" released by Marvel, it can be noted that he is wearing the stone around his neck, Comic Book reported.

Meanwhile, apart from "Avengers: Infinity War," "Doctor Strange" is also expected to appear in "Thor: Ragnarok." To recall, an image from the set of "Thor: Ragnarok" emerged in Aug. which showed Chris Hemsworth holding a card with "Doctor Strange's" address. Fans immediately speculated that Doctor Strange will also show up in the movie.

However, "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi denied the speculation and said that she cannot comment on it as she was not sure if "Doctor Strange" will actually be part of the film, Digital Spy reported. She added that Cumberbatch may appear for a cameo and it is also possible that the image might just be a simple tease to let fans zoom in the photo.

"Doctor Strange" is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 4 in North America. The movie is directed by Scott Derrickson. "Thor: Ragnarok," on the other hand, is scheduled for release in 2017 while "Avengers: Infinity War" will be released in 2018.
