‘Chucky 7’ [RELEASE DATE, LATEST UPDATES]: ‘Child’s Play’ Creator Don Mancini Teasing Fans For Upcoming Sequel Development? Tiffany, Glen’s Comeback Confirmed?

Before the demon-possessed Annabelle doll haunted the world, evil doll Chucky of the upcoming sequel "Chucky 7" has already tormented horror movies enthusiasts since 1988 through the infamous "Child's Play" series. Just recently, the franchise creator and filmmaker Don Mancini has spooked social media fans and followers after sharing some exciting details about the sequel.

Ever since the franchise's sixth installment titled, "Curse of Chucky" ended with a cliffhanging finale, Mancini has already been dropping hints about a potential sequel dubbed as "Chucky 7." Unfortunately, reports about the development of the said sequel have been elusive for three years until the filmmaker rocked Twitterverse with a February 2016 tweet, hinting the release of "Chucky 7" in 2017.

On Oct. 1, Mancini once again teased fans on Twitter when he shared that he is currently storyboarding "Chucky 7." According to Bloody Disgusting, Mancini's tweet also suggested that he already had a script, not to mention the appearance of Chucky and Tiffany's (Jennifer Tilly) son, Glen.

Despite Glen's appearance, Dread Central noted that he was just being used as a "stand-in" on the particular tweet for Chucky, stressing that his return has yet to be confirmed. The news site further explained that Universal Studios has yet to confirm anything and one thing seems to be sure is Jennifer Tilly's comeback as Brad's daughter, Fiona Dourif.

Meanwhile, the latest "Chucky 7" Twitter post is not the first time that Don Mancini teased the fans. In fact, he had previously tweeted about the sequel in September 2015, where he captioned an illustration with the phrase, "All good things come to those who wait."

In other "Chucky 7"-related reports, Mancini had also revealed his interest in delving deeper into story of the franchise's minority characters and Chucky's children, Glen and Glenda. Speaking with Collider, Mancini said he wanted to do something "surprising" about the characters, noting his idea of depicting the characters as "pacifist, sweet-natured schizophrenic."

Universal Studios has yet to confirm any details about the development of "Chucky 7" or whether filming has finally begun and its filming location. But based on Mancini's tweets, it's safe to assume that the upcoming Chucky sequel is aiming for a 2017 release date, as previously reported.
