Susan Sarandon is Proud of Her Cross-Dressing Son Miles Robbins

Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon, 68, is one cool mother. The actress recently talked about her son, Miles, 23, at an annual fundraiser for The Trevor Project, an LGBTQ group. She said that she's on board with however her son wants to express himself.

"My son Miles is a musician and a DJ and sometimes when his band performs they all wear dresses, and he has long hair," she told People Magazine. She goes on to say that she believes in raising kids to embrace the diversity of people. She has consciously brought up her kids in New York City so that they would be exposed to this. Sarandon, well-known for her advocacy for the LGBT community, also said that she is very happy and proud to see that her son "colors outside of the lines."

Miles is one of Susan's two children with ex-husband Tim Robbins. Their other son is Jack Henry, 26. Susan also has a 30-year-old daughter, Eva, with her former partner, Franco Amurri, the Italian director.

Miles follows celebrity kids like Miley Cyrus and Jaden Smith who have also declared that gender roles should be disregarded. But in Miles case, he knows that his sentiments has the full support of at least one of his parents.

A few days back, Susan was a guest on Oprah Winfrey's show, the "Oprah Master Class" and she talked about gender identity. "There are so many kids these days who are questioning, gay or transgender, who have a very tough time and it could be very dangerous for them. I think it's really great that we are having all these conversations and getting kids to understand that there is somewhere we can go to talk it over," the "Thelma & Louise" actress said, according to Yahoo Parenting.

She longs for the day when gender stereotype is no longer a big deal among parents raising boys and girls with expected standards. She observes that it's harder to raise to boys when society dictates that they shouldn't cry or show any emotion. "It's just not fair that you tell little boys that they can't be these other things," she said on the show.

The actress also gets behind Bruce Jenner's transition to Caitlyn Jenner. When the latter revealed herself last April, Susan was the first ones to greet her. "Congratulations @Caitlyn_Jenner on your rebirth. You've inspired so much intelligent dialogue and courage," she said on Twitter.
