Sony PlayStation VR Review: New VR Gadget From Sony More Exciting Than HTC Vive, Oculus Rift?

PlayStation VR, the newest virtual reality gadget from Sony, is expected to arrive with some exclusive games that will apparently make it more exciting than its competition, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Additionally, the PlayStation VR is reportedly designed to be more comfortable and easier to use.

While it can be noted that the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive are more advanced when it comes to specs, the PlayStation games seem to make the PlayStation VR equally enjoyable. Sony announced that there will be 30 PlayStation VR games that will be released together with the official launch of the PlayStation VR, The Wall Street Journal reported. The games will reportedly sell at $10 up to $60 each.

Players will also have the chance to enjoy 17 demo titles that are included in every PlayStation VR units. However, such games may only last for about 10 to 15 minutes of VR experience. Aside from the demo games, PlayStation VR owners could also download "The Playroom VR" for free. It is a collection of mini games for more VR experience.

As for the PlayStation VR design, Engadget pointed out that the device is consumer friendly. The device is formed into a headband with enough cushion for a more comfortable fit. In addition, there is only a single cable coming out of the PlayStation VR. This will reportedly allow users to have more freedom in moving around without worrying about the wires.

Sony's PlayStation VR also has a soft cushion made of a rubbery material that surrounds the lenses of the device. It could be Sony's solution to keep the device intact as users move around. The difference with PlayStation VR's cushion is that it feels smooth on the skin which could prevent sweating compared to the foam lining of the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift.

PlayStation VR is slated to arrive on Oct. 13. The core bundle is reportedly available for $400 while the Camera and Move controller bundle will sell at $500. For those who do not own the PlayStation console yet, it is sold separately for $300.
