Kara DioGuardi Expecting Son Via Gestational Surrogate

Singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi and husband Mike McCuddy are expecting a son via gestational surrogate.

The couple has decided to name their son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy. The baby is due in February.

"We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy," the Grammy-nominated songwriter, told People magazine.

After dating for nearly two years, the couple became engaged in 2008 and tied the knot the following year. The American Idol judge and husband were trying to conceive from a long time. After failing to conceive naturally, the 42-year-old musician opted for IVF treatment. However, the multiple efforts of the couple to have babies via IVF treatment also ended in failure.

They then decided to seek the help of a gestational surrogate.

"We made a personal decision to try with a surrogate. I asked someone we knew, a friend. And on the first try, it worked," the mom-to-be told People magazine. "We're praying for our surrogate, that she gets through this and that it's as easy on her as it can possibly be, because she's been a gem throughout the whole process.

"I've got two people on my mind: her and the baby. She's given us this incredible gift," she said.

According to a Daily Mail report, the couple has hired the surrogate for $100,000.

The expecting couple is patiently waiting to meet their bundle of joy.

"Kara and Mike can't wait to see their little boy," Daily Mail quoted a source close to DioGuardi telling National Enquirer. "Kara has waited such a long time to be a mom, and now she's finally getting her wish."
