Uma Thurman Explains Inspiration Behind her Third Child's Unusual Name

Uma Thurman does everything with a purpose and she definitely had something on her mind while choosing an unusual name for her third child.

The 42-year-old actress and boyfriend Arpad Busson welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in July. Apart from the new arrival, Thurman has two children with her second husband actor Ethan Hawke - daughter Maya Thurman (14) and son Levon Green Hawke (10).

The new parents, Thurman and Busson, drew wide attention for choosing a long name for their bundle of joy - Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson.

As everyone continued wondering about the inspiration behind the 51-alphabet name, the proud parents preferred to keep mum on the subject.

During a chat with Jimmy Fallon on the show "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" Monday, the actress broke her long silence and revealed the factors that motivated her to select the name.

"[Maya] came up with the best excuse, [which] was that I probably wouldn't get to have any more children, so I just put every name that I liked into [Luna's],"People magazine quoted Thurman as saying, referring to her teenage daughter Maya.

However, for convenience, the new parents have found a simple name for the little girl - Luna.

"We couldn't quite agree on the name," People magazine quoted Thurman as saying. "We call her Luna, so she's lucky that way."

Thurman met actor Gary Oldman during the filming of "State of Grace".  The couple tied the knot in 1990.The marriage didn't last long and they split after two years. In 1998, the actress married actor Hawke. But the couple separated in 2003. The "Kill Bill" actress got engaged to London-based business man Busson and announced expecting a baby in February last year.
