NBA Trade Rumors:Cleveland Cavaliers Prefer J.R. Smith Over Kevin Love; Trading Love To Give Enough Space For Smith?

Cleveland Cavaliers bagged their first NBA title last season. Everyone knows that LeBron James wants a back-to-back title for the team. However, up to this time, they are still working on their roster. J.R Smith has not re-signed yet and reports have it that Cavs is willing to trade Kevin Love for a more cap space to acquire Smith.

Parent Herald previously reported that Cleveland Cavaliers have already offered a competitive deal to J.R. Smith. LeBron James, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson have been showing their support and interest in playing with Smith again. At the time, the fate depends on Smith's decision.

However, it seems that Cleveland Cavaliers are desperate to have J.R. Smith return. According to HNGN, Cavs prefer Smith over Kevin Love that they are willing to lose their power forward for their shooting guard.

Per Morning News USA, Cleveland Cavaliers could trade Kevin Love to Oklahoma City Thunder and get Victor Oladipo in return. By pushing this trade, Cavs would have enough cap space to cater J.R. Smith's demands.

Reports have it that J.R. Smith demands an annual pay of $15 million. However, Cleveland Cavaliers only offered $10 million. Cavs didn't find the need to increase their offer since no other team in the NBA league is bidding for Smith. However, in the recent update, the offer is now between $10 million and $11 million.

If Cleveland Cavaliers would push this trade to make room for J.R. Smith, then it will only confirm the reports claiming that they prefer Smith over Kevin Love. However, Cavs on their part already denied that they are considering a trade involving Love but it just didn't convince fans.

In a separate report, Cleveland Cavaliers is not giving J.R. Smith a deadline to sign their offer. Also, Smith is spotted with his former Cavs running mates LeBron James, Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye. It seems that the shooting guard misses Cavs, which triggers report that he might eventually sign the deal without the need to trade Kevin Love.
