9-Year-old Girl Now Recovering After Being Shot While In A Playground In Roxbury, Attacker Still At Large

A 9-year-old girl was shot while playing in a playground with other children in Roxbury. The person who pulled the trigger and shot the girl is still at large.

The 9-year-old girl is reportedly recovering from her gunshot wound. Residents are worried about the incident because the person who is responsible for the crime has not been found yet. The area where the incident took place was on Annunciation Road.

A resident said in a statement that there were around four or five gunshots that rang out. The children are said to be part of a group of people having a party at around 1 a.m. on Saturday, WCVB reported. The children were at a nearby playground when several gunshots were heard.

The 9-year-old unidentified girl has been shot in the back. The shooter, who remains unknown, fled the scene, according to CBS. There was no statement as to who the person is or if there was more than one attacker. The girl was rushed to a hospital and was found with nonlife threatening injuries.

Another resident said of the shooting, "It's tragic. I mean, I don't know her status right now but still, regardless of what it is, it's a 9-year-old being shot." Another said that no matter where a person is, kids should not be out in the dark as it is not safe. Even if they are with their parents, the resident thinks that no one should be out that late.

A woman claims that she was shot in the same area six years ago. She noted that the girl might not have been targeted noting that the neighborhood is not safe either for kids or for adults. She was wondering what the kids were doing outside at that time of the night.

Police officials are asking the help of the public. Boston Police Chief William Gross said that they need the help of the citizens because there are too many guns on the streets, and he believes it is time to come together and help them solve the matter.
