The Fault In Dakota Access Pipeline: Actress Shailene Woodley Arrested Over Criminal Trespassing For Protesting Construction

"The Fault In Our Stars" actress Shailene Woodley is not taking the Dakota Access Pipeline issue sitting down as she went out there and got arrested for criminal trespassing. This was confirmed by Morton County, North Dakota Sheriff's Department spokesperson.

The actress was seen in the Facebook video that she posted that she was put in handcuffs then was taken into custody. She, along with the others, were protesting against the Dakota Access Pipeline on Monday afternoon when the trespassing took place.

CNN reported that as of Monday evening, Woodley, who is also an activist for many causes, has since been released from the Morton County Jail. Her publicist confirmed the reports that she has been released from police custody.

Woodley joined around 200 protesters before she was arrested. The protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline have been ongoing for weeks now. She took to Facebook Live to post a lengthy video of the incident. When she was arrested, Woodley said to her fans if they heard her saying that she was walking back to her RV so that they can go back to camp peacefully but officials grabbed her by her jacket and said that she is not allowed to continue.

Woodley continued to share, "And they had giant guns and batons and zip ties and they're not letting me go." In the video, an official was heard saying that Woodley is to be placed under arrest for criminal trespassing. The actress then asked the deputy why is she being arrested when no one else is being taken in. According to other reports, more than 20 protestors were arrested during the same time that Woodley was taken into custody.

E! News reported that many stars took to social media to talk about the arrest of Woodley and the Dakota Access Pipeline in general. Author of "The Fault In Our Stars," John Green, said that he admires Woodley and her passionate activism. Actor Mark Ruffalo said that he stands with Woodley for standing with the Standing Rock Water Protectors. Her "The Fault In Our Stars" co-actor, Ansel Elgort, also took to Twitter to express support for Woodley.

The Dakota Access Pipeline is worth $3.7 billion and will cross through North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois. Many are saying that it will damage the Native American tribal lands as well as the environment in general.
