Sony Xperia XZ & Sony Xperia X Compact Review: Are The New Sony Xperia Smartphones Worth Buying? Specs, Price Points Inside

Sony has just released the newest additions to its X-series, the Sony Xperia XZ and the Sony Xperia X Compact. Sony Xperia XZ could be considered the high-end model while Sony Xperia X Compact falls into the mid-range level when it comes to specs.

Sony Xperia XZ is powered by Snapdragon 820 while Sony Xperia X Compact is integrated with Snapdragon 650. Both devices equip 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage capacity that could be augmented through MicroSD cards. Both handsets also run on Android 6.0.1 OS.

The two smartphones both charge through USB Type-C connectors but they differ in batteries. Sony Xperia XZ has a 2,900 mAh battery while Sony Xperia X Compact has 2,700 mAh battery. Both devices feature an adaptive charging technology that is reportedly designed by Sony for an extended battery life, ZDNet reported.

As for their physical features, Sony Xperia XZ is designed with a 5.2-inch screen while Sony Xperia X Compact's screen is only at 4.6 inches. Both smartphones have glossy and reflective finish on the front panel but the edge of Sony Xperia XZ is matte. The devices differ in materials used for their bodies as Sony Xperia XZ is made of metal while Sony Xperia X Compact is made of plastic.

Sony Xperia XZ and Sony Xperia X Compact both sport fingerprint scanning technology built into the power button. As for the cameras, Sony Xperia XZ is equipped with an impressive 23MP back camera with 4K video recording capabilities while its front shutter is at 13MP. Sony Xperia X Compact, on the other hand, is also integrated with 23MP camera on its rear but its front camera is only at 5MP.

Sony Xperia XZ is priced at $699 in the United States while Sony Xperia X Compact currently sells at $499.99, GSM Arena reported. Sony Xperia XZ is available in mineral black, platinum, forest blue and deep pink. Sony Xperia X Compact, on the other hand, is in white, universe black and mist blue.
