‘Gears of War’ 4 Review: Why The Xbox Exclusive Is Worth Playing

"Gears of War 4" was just recently released, and the highly anticipated new chapter of the third person shooter franchise arguably holds the title of the best Xbox exclusive game of the year.

While other great titles for the Xbox One were released this year, such as "Forza Horizon" and "Quantum Break," the latest "Gears of War" game, "Gears of War 4," undoubtedly looks like it will be honored as the best Xbox game of 2016, as it has been given plenty of love and praise from both fans and critics alike.

The over-the-top action packed "Gears of War 4" does not disappoint, bringing back everything that fans love about the brutal and bloody monster shooter, as well as adding a few new elements that keeps the game fresh, and making it stand out from the previous "Gears of War" instalments.

The new "Gears of War 4" pits the son oft the original "Gears of War" protagonist Marcus Fenix, named JD, along with his friends against a new enemy called "The Swarm," a race of huge and ferocious mutated monsters, as well as the military robots of the government.

This is by far the best looking game in the "Gears of War" series, according to Geek, as it is now powered by Unreal Engine. The game has undergone a visual upgrade, and is indeed the best looking game for the Xbox and Microsoft. The PC version will have a ridiculous number of optimization options, giving fans some serious eye-candy, as they blast away the baddies.

"Gears of War 4" also brings back the legendary Horde mode while adding new mission parameters, weapons, barriers, along with plenty of surprises. The Fabricator will be used to the fullest extent in the new Horde mode, as players will need to survive 50 waves of deadly monsters.

Microsoft also allows crossplay for "Gears of War 4" on the Xbox One and PC, with no added cost. This is definitely a bonus for fans who want to try the game out on both platforms. The game holds a score of 9.2 on IGN, making it one of the highest rated titles of the year.
