Jennifer Hudson Wants a Daughter to Make Toddler Son Happy

Jennifer Hudson wants to have a daughter to fulfill her toddler son's wish for a sibling.

During a chat with E! News at the Sundance Film Festival, Friday, Jan. 18, the 31-year-old singer revealed her plans to have a second child.

"I definitely want another baby," Hudson told E! News. "I want a little girl so bad and every day [David Jr.] reminds me, 'Mommy I want a baby sister. I want a baby sister. And I said OK, maybe when he gets 4-years-old, but he is 3. He is almost 4 now so maybe when he gets 6 or 7 because...3 and 4 comes too fast."

Hudson, who started singing at the age of seven, got engaged to professional wrestler David Otunga in September 2008. The singer confirmed expecting a baby in June 2009 and gave birth to her first child, David Jr., in August 2009. The singer/actress had kept the gender of her baby a surprise until she gave birth.

During an interview with ABC News in 2011, Hudson cited her motherhood experiences as inspiring her to lead a healthy life.

"We wanted to set the example for him to eat healthy and that health is important," Hudson told ABC News, referring to her son. "He's very conscious of it and he's on the scale with a banana weighing himself."

Hudson, who was a finalist on American Idol, shot to fame by grabbing a series of awards and recognitions, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her first movie, "Dreamgirls". Apart from that, Hudson received wide appreciation as a singer, when her debut album "Jennifer Hudson" won a Grammy Award in 2008.
