'Overwatch:' New Heroes After Sombra? Blizzard Teases Released, Missed By Fans?

"Overwatch" fans anxiously wait for the end of the line of the Sombra ARG come her inevitable release. Meanwhile, Blizzard made a line up of teases available even before "Overwatch" was first released. A revisit is timely for any that "Overwatch" fans may have missed.

Polygon recently posted an excellent article on how "Overwatch" clues are hidden in plain sight. An "Overwatch" teaser by Blizzard for the Halloween Brawl "Junkenstein's Revenge" was dropped in August within the Eichenwald map.

An "evacuation order" a sign in the map indicates execution on October 11. Interestingly, Blizzard dropped for "Overwatch" fans the "Halloween Terror" patch on this specific day.

It is also a spooky night time variation of Eichenwald where the "Junkenstein's Revenge" event takes place. Blizzard has been planning this release for months, and teased "Overwatch" players about it in the most subtle of ways.

Mercy's Halloween outfit release in the recent "Halloween Terror" update is another example. The costume was first shown to "Overwatch" during Winston's animated short "Recall."

In the video (released in March), about 2:11 minutes, "Overwatch" fans could clearly see Mercy in her Halloween outfit. The same one released as part of the Halloween patch.

In the photo before that, "Overwatch" players could see young Ana Amari before she was released as a playable hero in July. The AI companion in "Recall," Athena, is also believed to be an upcoming "Overwatch" hero as PC Games cites.

Athena is only one of the 25 or so other unknown upcoming "Overwatch" heroes that could only be seen for a fraction of a second in the "Recall" video. The "Recall" video was slowed down by YouTube user OneAmongstMany for "Overwatch" fans.

There are other "Overwatch" heroes speculated as well, this time from the promotional art. McCree's introduction into "Overwatch" was through promotional materials as well as cited on Polygon.

Here a number of "Overwatch" heroes of as of yet unknown identity could be seen. Also visible is whom some believe to be the previously mentioned "Overwatch" AI Athena.

Blizzard stated the two new "Overwatch" heroes are confirmed to be on their way in. One "Overwatch" hero sooner than later (most likely Sombra).

The other "Overwatch" hero comes in 2017, with the identity being anyone's guess at this point. "Overwatch" is currently available of PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
