Game Director Nomura Apologizes 'Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Delay'; Hints of 'Kingdom Hearts 3'

"Kingdom Hearts" one of the best-selling game franchises from Square Enix is getting another addition to its lineup. Earlier this year, it's has been announced that "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8" will be released on December 2016. Unfortunately, the December deadline has been pushed back to January of 2017.

Although this may be a disappointment to the many fans who have eagerly waited for the sequel to this critically acclaimed series, the delay seems understandable considering the many other great titles Square Enix is releasing this year that includes "Final Fantasy XV". Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix's game director, in an interview with "Dengeki PlayStation" has acknowledged and apologized for the delay.

Despite the seemingly disappointing news, director Nomura had some good news to share. Tetsuya Nomura hinted at the possible content of "Kingdom Hearts 3". According to Nomura, the box art for "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix", "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix", and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8" has been designed with a hidden secret that links all three games to "Kingdom Hearts 3". However, followers of the epic series may have already figured out these hints.

Make sure to keep the boxes of these games if you haven't figured it out yet. The next installment of "Kingdom Hearts" entitled "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will serve as a sort of prequel to the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3", which has yet to be announced.

The game features a collection of remastered content from "Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance", which was released for the Nintendo 3DS. It also includes content from "Kingdom Hearts X", which was actually a browser-based game and "Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep", which was released for the PlayStation Portable.

In addition to the remastered content, the game will also include unique content of its own to add a deeper background into the storyline of "Kingdom Hearts". This compilation of titles in one game is perhaps a great move by Square Enix to ease in players who are new to the franchise.
