Unimaginable: Ohio Man Gets Death Sentence Over Brutal Beating, Starving To Death Of His 2-Year-Old Daughter

A two-year-old child was killed by her own father after she was starved to death and brutally beaten. The father, who is from Ohio, was sentenced to death on Monday.

The death of the child was in 2015. The father was identified as Glen Bates of Cincinnati. A jury is said to have recommended the execution and the punishment was handed down by a Hamilton County judge.

The daughter of Bates, identified as Glenara, was taken to a local hospital on March 29 of last year by her mother, identified as Andrea Bradley. The unresponsive child was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital and was said to have had bruises, burns, biter marks and belt marks all over her body. Bradley has also been charged with murder, People reported.

Aside from the external injuries, Glenara also suffered from broken ribs, lacerations, and missing teeth. The Hamilton County Coroner ruled that the cause of death of Glenara was homicide due to starvation and blunt force trauma to the head. It is also believed that the injuries of the two-year-old girl were inflicted over a period of time.

The girl weighed only 13 pounds when she passed away, which is underweight because an average two-year-old weighs more than 20 pounds.

The attorney for Bates argued that he should be sentenced to life in prison so he could think about the crime he did. Bates pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters argued in a statement, "This man is a murderer who needs to pay for what he did to this innocent baby. My heart breaks for this little girl. She died in one of the most horrific way imaginable," Cincinnati reported.

As for Bradley, she also pleaded not guilty and her attorney claims she has an IQ in the mid-60s and has the mental capacity of a child. Five more children are living with Bradley. They are aged one to eight. They are all in the custody of relatives and family services.
