Willy Wonka Film Confirmed; Fans Not Happy About It?

Willy Wonka is set to get his own film. But fans aren't happy at all about it.

Warner Brothers recently closed a deal with Roald Dahl Estate in putting up a film about a "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" character Willy Wonka, according to Variety. Fans could expect much for the anticipated film as the upcoming prequel is in the hands of experts.

"The Secret Life of Pets" writer Simon Rich is doing the script while "Harry Potter" and "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" producer David Heyman will co-produce the Willy Wonka film with Roald Dahl Estate manager Michael Siegel.

Because there is no book that is dedicated to Willy Wonka alone, the movie would tackle the early life of the chocolate factory owner. The character was in two Roald Dahl books-"Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" and the "Charlie And The Glass Elevator."

If the Willy Wonka film would boom in the big screen, some characters of the Roald Dahl books might be in the limelight, too. But it looks like that will not be the case.

Upon hearing about the Willy Wonka film in the works, fans expressed disappointment and frustration, according to New York Daily News. Fans took to social media to air out their anger.

Fans said that they do not want another Willy Wonka on the screen, as Gene Wilder, the original actor who played the character, died in August. "Nobody will ever be as great as Gene Wilder," said Daniel Fugate on his Twitter.

Other fans said they do not need another Willy Wonka as there is only one candy man and it is Gene Wilder. Other fans said it is too soon to have another Willy Wonka movie as the original and first Willy Wonka just died.

Gene Wilder was the first Willy Wonka in the 1971 film "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory." A remake was made in 2005 starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.

And though the 2005dilm starred Johnny Depp, some people liked the original Willy Wonka movie better. Do you think it is high time for another Willy Wonka movie?
