“American Crime Story” News & Update: Season 3 Is On, To Delve Into Gianni Versace Murder

There is something about a murder or a tragedy that piques the public interests and "American Crime Story" is a strong proof! How else would one explain that even as "American Crime Story" Season 2 is yet to hit the screens, folks are already talking about season three?

The success of the first season, the "People v. O.J. Simpson" prompted FX to renew the show for season two and just recently confirmed that "American Crime Story " will still be back for a third installment. According to an article in Hollywood Reporter, the third season will look into the murder case of Italian fashion designer, Gianni Versace.

In Jul 1997, the fashion icon, Versace was shot just outside his home in Miami Beach. The killer turned out to be Andrew Cunanan, which has been held responsible for the death of four more people. Cunanan was about to be arrested in his houseboat days after the Versace murder when he committed suicide.

A post from US Magazine said that season three of "American Crime Story" will be a 10-part series to be based on the book, "Vulgar Favors" by writer, Maureen Orth. Meanwhile, the second season of "American Crime Story" veers away from murder cases as it examines Hurricane Katrina. The show plans to present a fresh angle by presenting how a natural catastrophe such as Hurricane Katrina can be considered a crime.

"American Crime Story" is created by Ryan Murphy and the "People v. O.J. Simpson" features an impressive cast including John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr., Marcia Clark, and David Schwimmer. The anthology came out as a big winner in the 2016 Emmy by gathering 10 awards including "Outstanding Limited Series," To further increase viewership, Variety reported that FX has signed a deal granting Netflix the streaming rights of "American Crime Story.
