Netflix's ‘The Fall’ Season 3 Episode 5 Spoilers & Promo: No Trial For Paul Spector? Gibson’s Case Against Belfast Strangler Weak?

The upcoming episode of "The Fall" will address whether Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan) will face trial due to his crimes as the Belfast Strangler. Episode four of the British crime drama series highlighted the deep complexity of Spector's psychological condition, which makes him unaware of his gruesome actions as the Belfast Strangler.

Episode five of "The Fall" Season 3 titled "Wounds of Deadly Hate" will find Spector's legal team being certain that "he will never stand trial," CarterMatt reported. Tom Anderson (Colin Morgan) and Danielle Ferrington (Niamh McGrady), on the other hand, "make a discovery from the past that may help [Stella] Gibson (Gillian Anderson) build her case."

The fourth episode of "The Fall" Season 3 showcased Spector dealing with his awful past. According to The Telegraph, he was genuinely shocked when his legal representation forced him to watch the torture video he made of Rose Stagg (Valene Kane). Spector claimed that he doesn't remember doing the video and even broke down into sobs when his evil alter ago yelled obscenities in the recording.

It's possible that Spector is faking his reactions so he can take an insanity plea for his case but his mental state could also be legitimate. "The Fall" viewers got a glimpse of his psychological condition's early beginnings when he was comforted by Nurse Sheridan (Aisling Bea).

Spector recounted that when he was young, he can split himself when his troubles got really bad. He added that if he's fortunate some part of him "would drift away to another, better place." Spector was abused at an orphanage when he was a child and that horrible experience broke him profoundly, pushing him into a destructive and murderous path as he grew older.

The last remaining episodes of "The Fall" will tackle Gibson's odd dynamic with Spector as well. The two's deep connection was emphasized in "The Fall" episode four's opening scene featuring Gibson's dream sequence.

The consequences of Gibson and Spector's connection will come under the spotlight as the latter's lawyers described her verbal seduction of the sociopath in "The Fall" Season 2. Gibson interviewed Spector instead of passing the task to the right subordinate and she even went with him to the woods where he hid Rose. Gibson's unconventional methods will likely damage the case she is building against the killer.

The sixth and final episode of "The Fall" Season 3 will air a day after episode five premieres on Thursday, Oct. 27. Watch a preview for episode five of "The Fall" below.
