NASA’s New Zodiac Signs 2016 [LATEST UPDATES]: 13th Zodiac Sign Ophiuchus Does NOT EXIST? Brit Astrologer Debunks NASA Claims; 22 Signs Possible?

Astrological or zodiac signs have always been a part of pop culture for so many years - from daily horoscopes to the best and worst love matches found in magazines, newspapers and other publications. So, it is not really surprising when reports about the changes in zodiac signs caused an online hullaballoo last week.

The commotion about the astrological signs started when NASA did some major changes in the zodiac signs, from adding a 13th sign to the alterations in the dates. Dubbed as the NASA New Zodiac Signs circa 2016, many followers got confused about the major overhaul regarding the ever-popular astrological signs, especially after NASA added the 13th sign called Ophiuchus aka Serpentarius, Parent Herald previously noted.

The NASA New Zodiac Signs, however, was debunked by a British astrologer, who claimed that Ophiuchus is not the 13th zodiac sign but an overlooked star. According to Royal Gazette, astrologer Steve Judd couldn't believe the public was buying NASA's New Zodiac Signs claims, saying scientists are just trying to discredit astrology.

Judd also explained the NASA New Zodiac Signs doesn't work for Western astrology. Judd said, "We prefer things to be more regular and orderly. You try telling someone who has been a Scorpio all their life they are not and see what happens."

The NASA New Zodiac Signs controversy did not really commence when the space agency made the revelation in January. Instead, it started with the claims from astronomer Parke Kunkle five years ago.

Meanwhile, Space.com seems to echo Judd's claims about the nonexistence of the 13th zodiac sign despite NASA New Zodiac Signs revelation. Columnist Joe Rao even pointed out the latest cosmic revelation is old news, saying "any given 'zodiac sign' assigned to particular calendar dates found in daily horoscopes is not where the sun actually is that particular month but where it would have been" a very long time ago.

Rao also stressed that NASA New Zodiac Signs' Ophiuchus aka the Serpent Holder was not considered a member of the Zodiac and might be omitted for "neatness' sake." It was also revealed that Scorpius' "brighter and more prominent constellation" was more preferred than Ophiuchus.

Furthermore, Rao has pointed out the possibility that there may be more than 13 zodiac signs. In his articles, Rao outlined there may be 22 astrological signs in total, including Auriga (the Charioteer), Sextans (the Sextant), Cetus (the Whale), Pegasus (the Flying Horse), Corvus (the Crow), Scutum (the Shield), Crater (the Cup), Hydra (the Water Snake) and Orion (the Hunter).
