Han Solo Movie Spinoff News & Update: Donald Glover To Play As Young Lando Calrissian

LucasFilm announced last Friday that the role for young Lando Calrissian has been filled. Donald Glover has been cast in the role for the yet unnamed Han Solo movie.

The world celebrated the casting of Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie. The "Community" star will join Alden Ehrenreich who was cast as the young Han Solo. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of "The Lego Movie" are set to direct the yet unnamed Han Solo movie.

The character Lando Calrissian was first introduced in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes back. Lando Calrissian the previous owner of the Millenium Falcon and has a testy history with Han Solo.

Lando Calrissian, played by Billy Dee Williams, returned in "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" where he saved Han Solo from Jabba the Hut. He later became a general in the Rebel Alliance and had the chance to fly the Millennium Falcon again.

The casting of Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie has been widely celebrated by the fans. Fellow 'Star Wars' actor Jon Boyega tweeted that he was pumped with the news. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller joined in the fun with tweets among fans and are clearly overjoyed with the casting news.

Donald Glover is beloved by fans for his role as Troy in the comedy "Community". Fans will also recognize him as Andre as the rapper/driver in Magic Mike XXL He currently stars in the FX series, "Atlanta", which he also created. Donald Glover is also an amazing rapper under his moniker, Childish Gambino.

This is a dream come true for Donald Glover who professes to being a fan of "Star Wars". Donald Glover also fulfilled another dream by being cast in the next "Spider-man" franchise in yet an unnamed role. Donald Glover started a #donald4spiderman campaign back in 2010 when it was announced that the next "Spider-man" was African-American.
