Carol Burnett Returns To TV With Show Produced By Amy Poehler!

Comedy legend Carol Burnett returns to TV with a comedy sitcom produced by Amy Poehler and Michael Saltzman. The yet unnamed comedy is on a pilot commitment with ABC.

The untitled ABC sitcom is about a family who gets a chance to buy their dream house but with a catch! The old owner, to be played by Carol Burnett, must stay in the house with the family until she dies. According to Deadline, this will be the return to multi-comedy of Michael Saltzman who will write the show.

Michael Saltzman credits Carol Burnett for his start in the showbiz industry. In an interview with Deadline, Michael Saltzman said that during his first meeting with Carol Burnett, the star gave him praise and encouragement. Carol Burnett then gave him a check to write anything and has said that she [Carol Burnett] wanted to give someone a start.

On the other hand, Amy Poehler is a long time fan of Carol Burnett. During the Screen Actors Guild Award, Amy Poehler along with Tina Fey presented Carol Burnett with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler jokingly said, "Carol [Burnett] is better than all of us. We're going to give her a prize for it". Amy Poehler has credited Carol Burnett for making up ten percent of what kind of woman she is today.

Carol Burnett is a legend in TV, Film, and Theater. The 83-year old star rose to fame in 1967 in her series, "The Carol Burnett Show". During the eleven year run of "The Carol Burnett Show", it won three Emmys was nominated for eleven, one for each year it ran.

Carol Burnett is also known for her Tony-nominated performances in "Once Upon A Mattress" and "Moon Over Buffalo". In 1969, Carol Burnett won a Special Tony Award. The legendary comedienne was recently seen in "Glee" and "Hawaii Five-O".
