‘The Blacklist’ Season 4 Cancellation: Show’s Ratings Keep Falling; Can It Be Saved By ‘Redemption’?

"The Blacklist" seems to be losing its steam and is likely heading down to cancellation. Now, that sounds bad news for its spinoff, "The Blacklist: Redemption."

"The Blacklist" Season 4 is well underway for its mid-season finale, but the show has been experiencing a slow but continuous decline in ratings. According to TV By The Number by zap2it.com, the show's ratings has been declining since it moved to Thursday nights schedule in the middle of Season 2.

However, "The Blacklist" Season 4 has now reached the marginal ratings zone, having a 1.2 or lower same-day rating for four out of its five episodes so far, according to the publication. But for now, it has a 50-50 chance of getting canceled or renewed.

For one, it won't be a good timing to have "The Blacklist" canceled when it's spinoff, "The Blacklist: Redemption" is slated to premiere in early 2017. Having a syndication deal with Netflix would also play out well for Sony and NBC to work on something for the breakout hit series. But fans better keep their fingers crossed and hope that the ratings would pick up rather than keep on sliding.

Meanwhile, TV Fanatic has released quite a number of preview photos from "The Blacklist" Season 4 Episode 6 titled "The Thrushes." Most of them feature Red and Liz, who seem to be still hanging out despite the revelation in "The Blacklist" Season 4 Episode 5 that Alexander is Liz's father.

In one of the photos from the "The Blacklist" Season 4 Episode 6, Liz can be seen in the home that Red had set up for her and Tom. She was taking a phone call with a sad look in her face. In another one, still in the same spot, Liz seemed to be with someone who made her look frustrated or about to argue. Meanwhile, Red can be seen in a preview photo with a look in his face that seemed to be telling Liz he's not pleased with what she's doing.

"The Blacklist" airs every Thursday at 10:00 p.m. on NBC.
