‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Episode 2 Recap: Sybil To Come After Elena; Elena Returning? Stefan, Caroline Engaged, No ‘The Originals’ Crossover

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Episode 2 revealed how strong Damon's love for Elena is but the evil siren Sybil modified his memory to put her in Elena's place. Now that Sybil learned who Elena is, will she go after Elena's body and make sure she dies permanently? Additionally, Stefan finally proposed to Caroline and this could mean that there is no "The Originals" crossover happening in the future for a possible Klaroline love story.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Episode 2 saw Stefan remodeling their house to make room for the twins, Hollywood Life reported. He then proposed to Caroline and the two are officially engaged. With Caroline marrying Stefan soon, it seems that she has no more reasons to reunite with Klaus on "The Originals."

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Episode 2 also followed Damon as she tried to kill Sarah Salvatore, his last living relative, a sister unknown to him. Stefan asked Damon not to kill Sarah for Elena's sake so Damon released his supposed victim. However, Sybil was there all along and she found out about Damon's feelings for Elena.

That said, Sybil entered Damon's mind to remove Elena from his memories and put her in Elena's place, GossipandGab reported. Damon then voluntarily let Sybil end Sarah on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Though Sybil was successful in altering Damon's memories, she cannot be assured that Damon will no longer remember Elena.

Elena keeps that soft spot within Damon and Sybil does not like that. It is important to note that the reason why Sybil came after Sarah was because Sarah was Enzo's love interest. With Sybil coming after Enzo and Damon's true love, it may be possible that Sybil will go after Elena to kill her permanently on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.

It can be recalled that Elena chose to sacrifice herself to keep Bonnie alive and her sleeping body was kept in the Salvatore tomb. Elena's life was linked to Bonnie through a spell and only one of them could stay alive. Given Sybil's strong powers, could she find a way to break the spell only to kill Elena to unleash a more evil Damon on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8?
