'Microsoft Surface Pro 4' Release Date & News: Tablet Confirmed For October, Production on Track With Skylake CPU [Rumors]

Microsoft's newest tablet is expected sometime this year and as reported earlier by various sources, the device should come out sometime in the fall. With the release of Microsoft's most crucial update coming up, the Window's 10, the Pro 4 is expected to come loaded with the OS when its released in October.

DigiTimes published that according to knowing internal sources, the components of the newest Pro tablet begin coming in September and the completed Surface Pro will be made available the following month.

Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 10 software will be made available on July 2.

"With the new Surface, the sources expect Microsoft's monthly tablet shipments to have a chance to reach 500,000-600,000 units," continued DigiTimes. There aren't any major external design changes to the Pro installment. It should still come with the same bezel size along with a 12-inch screen display.

It has been over a year since the announcement and release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 during the first semester of 2014, so while the company has remained quiet about the expected tablet, there is a great deal of anticipation from consumers.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Features and Specs

With regards to what's under the hood, Microsoft is said to equip the tablet with Intel's latest Skylake processor as well as up to 16GB RAM for better performance.

In addition, Tech Radar shared that per sources, the display will have a 2K screen with a 2,160 x 1,440 pixel-resolution. Storage wise, it will probably offer the same storage options as the Surface Pro 3, which begins at 64GB and offers higher variants, 128GB, 256GB, and 500GB.

The Windows 10 is going to be a huge relief for previous Pro users because many Microsoft loyalists were quite disappointed when Windows 8 took up massive amounts of storage. Windows 10 is said to offer user functionality that both mobile devices and desktops users will appreciate.

This type of operating system is exactly what a hybrid device like the Surface Pro 4 would do well running on. Based on the Surface Pro 3 price range, we could see the Pro 4 come with a starting price tag of $799 and increases as specs differ.
