2K Games has set a new sales record as the "Mafia 3" sold about 4.5 million copies in just 1 week from the its release. This marks the record for 2K Games as the fastest-selling game in their history.

According to the parent company Take-Two Interactive, the "Mafia 3" has been the best-selling games around for the 2K Games. The "Mafia 3" is already on top of the game series like NBA 2K, Bioshock and Borderland as per Washington Post confirmed.

Previously, Take-Two announced the Grand Theft Auto V earned more than $800 on the first day upon release as the Gamespot reported. The Grand Theft Auto V has been one of the highest-selling games around since its release back in September of 2013.

Thanks to the IGN for elaborating the said press release about the success of the "Mafia 3" in 2K Games' sales record. In their report, they confirmed that the 4.5million are the units sold to all the retailers and not to the consumers. We still need to wait for 2K to announce the actual sales figure of the "Mafia III" that is sold to the consumers.

According to the Polygon, "Mafia 3" received mixed reviews from several game reviews and game critics. It was praised due to its impressive storyline that draws a lot of interest from players around the world.

Though the "Mafia 3" was criticized due to its racial issues when it comes to the game characters, still "Mafia 3" was able to impress more players. The "Mafia 3" features the African-American Lincoln Clay as the lead character, players will then have to help Clay build his gang and gain back their reputation as the Godfather of New Bordeaux.

"Mafia III" was launched last October 7th where it has an issue on the framerates for the PC version during its first day. 2K were able to fix the issue and eventually released a fix patch and the rest is history.
