Val Kilmer Is Cancer-Free! Former ‘Top Gun’ Actor Says Michael Douglas Means Well But Is Misinformed?

It seems those reports about former "Top Gun" actor Val Kilmer having cancer is false. In a post shared on Facebook, Val Kilmer denies having cancer but did have health problems for the past year.

During a question and answer portion in London, Michael Douglas has said that actor Val Kilmer has throat cancer. The veteran actor has said to Jonathan Ross that Val Kilmer is going through the same cancer that he [Michael Douglas] had. Michael Douglas added that Val Kilmer's absence from the spotlight is due to this undergoing health problem.

71-year-old Michael Douglas was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer last 2010. In recent years, the actor's representatives have shared that Michael Douglas has been cancer-free for five years now.

With the outpouring of concern for the welfare of Val Kilmer, the actor himself took to social media to refute the news. In his Facebook post, Val Kilmer wrote that he does not have cancer. The former "Top Gun" actor also said that two years ago, he reached out to Michael Douglas asking for a referral from a throat specialist. A lump was found in his [Val Kilmer] throat and he wanted to have it checked.

Val Kilmer then adds that fortunately, the lump found in his throat was not cancer. After that, he suffered from having swollen tongue and the team of doctors in UCLA opted for him to stay in the hospital to monitor his condition.

Val Kilmer also passionately defends that his belief as a Christian Scientist did not hinder him from asking for medical help. Christian Science is a religion that relies on prayer and love and opts out from taking drugs or enabling medical help.

Val Kilmer was thankful for all the love, support and concern fans around the world have given him after hearing the news. The actor though adds that Michael Douglas was just misinformed of his situation and thanked the veteran actor for his show of concern. Val Kilmer is currently on the mend and can be seen on his latest film, "Citizen Twain".
