'Passion of the Christ' Update: Mel Gibson Reveals More Details On Sequel, Talks Advise He Would Give His Younger Self

Mel Gibson is slowly getting back in the spotlight years after his infamous meltdown. While promoting his new film "Hacksaw Ridge," which he directed, he has been talking about the "Passion of the Christ" sequel as well as the advice he could give his younger self.

Mel Gibson appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on the Tuesday episode of the show and he appeared in the portion called "Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars." During the guesting of Mel Gibson, he and Stephen Colbert laid down on a picnic blanket as if they were star-watching. At one point, the host of the show asked Mel Gibson about the advice he could give his younger self.

At first, Mel Gibson's thoughts were quite philosophical as he said that his younger self should not be so caught up in the little things and take advantage of all the gifts the world has to offer. He then said towards the end, "I'd also tell my younger self to shut the [expletive] up."

As for the much-awaited "Passion of the Christ" sequel, Mel Gibson shared that the flick is about Jesus and will be entitled "Resurrection." However, the director said that he will not just focus on the resurrection of Jesus Christ but his journey through the days before his death. Stephen Colbert tried to squeeze more details from Mel Gibson when he asked if there will be villains. Mel Gibson did not give away characters' names and jus said that the bad guys in "Resurrection" are in another realm, Los Angeles Times reported.

As for the film "Hacksaw Ridge," the movie is based on the soldier named Desmond Doss who refused to bring a weapon while in war. Desmond Doss is played by Andrew Garfield, Deadline reported.

"Hacksaw Ridge" is out in theaters this Friday.
