'Suicide Squad' 2016 Cast & Trailer: New Joker Plot Theory, Character Not As He Seems [Rumors]

The trailer for the upcoming "Suicide Squad" has just been released and while fans have a better idea of what could happen in the upcoming movie, a new theory has just been shared.

According to Blastr, a new fan theory puts forth that there may be more to Jared Leto's Joker than we think. Via Reddit, it's speculated that the Joker is really Jason Todd, also known as -- who for those who aren't too familiar with the Batman comics -- Batman's former ally and sidekick, Robin.

"Bruce was Jason's surrogate father & Jason is probably a little salty about not being saved from the original Joker. Now the Robin suit [as seen in the trailer for Batman v. Superman], this one is kind of the first pillar of my theory, we see 'The joke's on you Batman'. What joke is on batman? Could it mean Jason wrote that on his suit after he became a deranged psycho? What i think it means is, after all Jason & Bruce have gone through together, him teaching Jason to not be so angry & teaching him how to be a better person, in the end it didn't matter it was all one huge joke because Jason's fate was to become Joker, his fate was to become the arch nemesis of his father."

In addition, upon Jason's return, he began to use the name "Red Hood," which has previously been used by the Joker. This, per sources, is "proof that 'Jason Todd has a built-in history of taking the Joker's identity'."

Lastly, it was also pointed out that there is a "J" tattoo in Joker's necks as well as a feather, which could be a symbol for a robin.

"Suicide Squad" has a star-studded cast that includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomarang and Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg. It was also confirmed that the film added anti-hero Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis.

The summary of the film, due out on is as follows: "A secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency."
