PlayStation 4 ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’: Visually Striking Game with the Release with 4K and 1080p Displays

During Sony's launch celebration event, the video game "Horizon Zero Dawn" is considered by many as the most visually dynamic release on the PlayStation 4 Pro.

The awesome color tone and rich palette featured in the game are a perfect match with high-end screens that uses high dynamic range (HDR). Gamers in particular will notice the brilliant orange lighting along with the stark blues in the electronics littering the game's alien environment.

The storyline for the action RPG "Horizon Zero Dawn" will see humanity trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic open world. It's a planet where machines are considered the prevailing inhabitants and humans are an endangered species.

Developers of the game are looking forward to creating more visually impressive titles that will utilize the PlayStation 4 Pro, HDR, and 4K TV sets. But right now, their main goal with "Horizon Zero Dawn" is to make it look stunning on any PS model being used especially if a customer has a 4K TV that's HDR-compatible.

A technique called "supersampling" is now being used in PS4 "Horizon Zero Dawn" for 1080p HDTVs. This method uses internal calculations at a higher resolution than 1080p, and as a result, there are smoother edges with a more stable image on the game.

This high-quality anti-aliasing process implemented throughout PS4 "Horizon Zero Dawn" internally renders at close to 4K resolution before being minimized to a final 1080p resolution. The whole process also adds to the quality of environment textures with the help of texture sampling, along with increased anisotropic filtering and better shadow maps in "Horizon Zero Dawn".

A 2160p checkerboard will be present on 4K televisions that will look great and add great detail on different aspects of "Horizon Zero Dawn." Examples are the varied designs on the machines, individual branches, and leaves swaying in multiple trees and the stitching on the clothes of the main character and NPCs populating the vast game world.

"Horizon Zero Dawn" will be released for the PlayStation 4 on February 27, 2017, and a deluxe edition that includes a new theme, a digital art book, three resource packs, and new outfits will soon be available. The PlayStation 4 Pro will be launched on November 10 with a price tag of $400.
