Adidas Partners With Parley In Making Running Shoes Out Of Ocean Plastic Wastes

Adidas, the sportswear legend announces the launching of its newest pair, the running sneakers. Adidas partners with Parley to promote innovation, style and the love for the environment in the creation of a running sneaker whose materials come from ocean waste. Fans are frantic as Adidas further adds that only 7,000 pairs of the UltraBoost Uncaged Parley shall be produced in 2016.

Business Insider recalls the initial partnership of Adidas and Parley in the previous year. Parley, an organization that is committed to raising consciousness against water pollution partnered with Adidas in designing of footwear that is partly made of marine plastic wastes. The Adidas x Parley project was named Silhouette and the 100 pairs produced were given as prices for a mini-Instagram competition.

Unlike its predecessor, UltraBoost Uncaged Parley will be released in the market with a $200-price-tag. This model employs the UltraBoost Uncaged design, Adidas' top running-meets-lifestyle pieces. Built with 95 percent ocean plastic waste, the UltraBoost Uncaged Parley stands out. En Gadget adds that sneaker's laces, heel webbing, sock-liner, and heel cap are also sourced from ocean wastes collected by Parley in their coastal operations in the Maldives.

Adidas uses its Boost technology UltraBoost Uncaged Parley's midsoles. This is the same thing found on Adidas' UltraBoost, NMD and Yeezys. The sportswear giant says they made sure to maintain the footwear's performance on top of Uncaged Parley's unique raw materials by using the same signature pieces of the running shoe. Customer's owning one of the 7,000 pairs would simply need to wear the Parley like any other piece of Adidas minus yarn fibers.

Adidas group executive Eric Liedtke, announces that this project goes beyond proving what Adidas and Parley are capable of doing. This project serves a much greater mission, a purpose, a drive to kindle the passion of moving towards promotion of environmental awareness among the fashion industry. Liedtke says Adidas and Parsley pose this challenge for the rest of the world to contribute in facing our planet's problems. So, want a pair?
