What Kids Can Learn From Emma Watson's Portrayal In 'Beauty And The Beast' Remake

Disney classic, "Beauty and the Beast," may be a tale as old as time but still, the story proves to be full of lessons that kids can learn. However, it has been over two decades since the book-loving Belle was introduced, and over time, the mores have changed since its maiden release in 1991. Hence, Emma Watson will be recreating the Belle we knew as she reprises in the film's live-action remake to impart a new set of learnings fit for modern-age viewers.

Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" will be someone a tad bit different than what we knew before. In this remake, Entertainment Weekly reports that Emma Watson will be making her character more proactive than before.

The 1991 Belle used to be very obedient to her father, Maurice, but in the film's remake, Emma Watson will reportedly exude more control over herself. This time, Belle will be the one who oversees her destiny, one good thing that kids can replicate from the story.

Mirror reports the Disney princess will get a new back story. Maurice used to be the inventor, but per Emma Watson's recommendation, Belle will be the one who invents. His father will be a music box maker instead.

Further, Emma Watson shares that Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" remake will be seen to be more practical. In the original animated film, Belle wore only one outfit, which is completely understandable for its reason. This time, Emma Watson will show Belle's practicality by being mindful of what she does and making sure she does it efficiently with her resources.

"In the movie, she wears these little ballet shoes," Emma Watson shares as she told that Belle is a practical lady. "If you're going to ride a horse, and tend your garden, and fix machinery, then you need to be in proper boots."

The 26-year-old star also shares that she envisions "Beauty and the Beast" to be an inspiration, just as how she obsessed with it when she was a child. The "Harry Potter" icon, who serves as U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador, has been a good influence even without the cameras. Moreover, Emma Watson believes that Belle represents a woman who stands up to her dreams, even if there are hurdles along the way.

"Beauty and the Beast" will be released on March 17, 2017. Do you think Emma Watson perfectly resembles Belle regarding personality? Let us know what you think by commenting below!
