'The Big Bang Theory' News: Amid 'TBBT' Season 11 Doubts, CBS Working On A Prequel That Is All About Sheldon Cooper

Amid the rumors and reports saying that "The Big Bang Theory" will no longer have a Season 11 after the current season, Season 10, it has been confirmed that CBS is working on a prequel of the show. The prequel is said to center on Sheldon Cooper.

The spinoff is centered on the young Sheldon Cooper and it will be showing when he was only 12 years old. Hollywood Life reported that the spinoff series of "TBBT" is entitled "Sheldon" and is a single-camera family comedy that will focus on the life of Sheldon before he became a scientist. However, there is no script available for the "The Big Bang Theory" prequel yet although it already has a pilot order from CBS.

The co-creators of "The Big Bang Theory," Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, together with showrunner Steve Molaro, will be joining hands again to oversee "Sheldon." It is believed that "Sheldon" is just like "Malcolm in the Middle."

None of the current cast members of "The Big Bang Theory" were mentioned to take part on the "TBBT" spinoff. Additional information about "Sheldon" are still under wraps.

The spinoff series comes after another milestone was reached by "The Big Bang Theory" as it is now on its 10^th season. The family comedy ranks as the most-watched comedy series in the 18-49 demographic.

It remains unclear if "TBBT" will have a Season 11 and if the cast, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, and Melissa Rauch, are still to be seen in the supposed next season. Many are saying that having a Season 11 for "The Big Bang Theory" would cost a lot especially that Cuoco, Parson, and Galecki's salaries are at $1 million each per episode, The Hollywood Reporter shared.

CBS president Glenn Geller said in a statement last August about the possibility of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 11 that they are very confident that everyone involved wants more "Big Bang past year 10 and I know Warner Bros. will make those deals."
