Bobbi Kristina Brown Dies At 22 After A 5-Month Coma

Following a five-month long ordeal, the only daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is finally resting. The young celebrity was 22 years old when she died.

"Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family," said the statement released by the family of Houston, according to NBC News. "She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months," the statement further read.

On January 31, Brown was found unconscious in a bathtub inside her home and was then rushed to the hospital. The incident was similar to the death of her mother in 2012. But while Whitney died, Bobbi Kristina continued to fight for her life and was placed in a medically induced coma by her family.

However, as months passed and with no clear progress to her health, the doctors declared that she had "global and irreversible brain damage," according to The Wrap.

In June, Entertainment Tonight reported that the family decided to transfer her to hospice care. "Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition has continued to deteriorate. As of today, she has been moved into hospice care. We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God's hands now," said Pat Houston, Bobbi Kristina's aunt, to Entertainment Tonight.

Over a month later in hospice care, Bobbi Kristina finally decided it was time to go. Police said the death was a medical emergency and no foul play was ruled. No criminal charges have also been lodged, according to NBC News.

Born on March 4, 1993, Bobbi Kristina was always in the spotlight due to her parents' status as music heavy-weights. For years, she was always photographed with her Grammy-winning mother. In 2005, the public learned more about her as an adolescent, as she was featured in her parents' Bravo TV show, "Being Bobby Brown." But by the time she was 14-years-old, her parents split up.

Following her death, fans of her superstar mother offered their condolences on social media, but it was the Whitney Houston Facebook Page that made a touching tribute to the mom and daughter, who have both passed on.

The site posted a black-and-white photo of Whitney carrying Bobbi, who was still a toddler. These words were posted in the caption: "It is hard to say goodbye. On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully. The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers. As Bobbi Kristina would say: 'The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face.'"

"Having Bobbi Kristina ... I could never do anything that could top that. There's been nothing more incredible in my life than having her," Houston said in an interview with Rolling Stone, when she was asked about her daughter in 2012. "God knows, I have been in front of millions and millions of people, and that has been incredible, to feel that give-take thing. But, man, when I gave birth to her and when they put her in my arms, I thought: 'This has got to be it. This is the ultimate.' I haven't experienced anything greater."
