Susan Anthony’s Grave Will Stay Open Until Polls Are Closed on “Election Day,” Expecting More Visitors

Many Americans, especially New Yorkers, are expressing their gratitude to the pivotal player to women's suffrage movement during election. Susan Anthony's grave in Upstate New York will stay open until 9:00 pm, rather than the usual closing time 5:30 pm. The cemetery are expecting more visitors this year because of a possibility of a first female president. 

The activist who played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement Susan Anthony will be forever remembered all of her deeds in next century.

According to the Democrat & Chronicle, one unnamed person left a little short note along with a Hillary Clinton campaign button last week at the Susan Brownell Anthony gravesite in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester. In the note, it said, "Thank you Susan B. Anthony, for devoting your life to women's voting rights." Because of Susan Anthony's work, on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, this unnamed person will cast her ballot for the first woman president of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Other supporters and fans have followed up placing their "I voted" stickers in support of Clinton.

Lovely Warren told CNN that she actually became the first female mayor of the Rochester City. She would not have been able reached her goal without the sacrifices of women like Susan B. Anthony in the history of mankind. Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren was also spotted visiting Anthony's grave an "Election Day."

Motto reported that Susan Anthony is a key figure in the American suffragette movement. However, she is still inspiring women over a hundred years after she was arrested for illegally casting a ballot in 1872. People have recently been visiting Susan Anthony's grave, leaving some notes for her and posting "I Voted" stickers on her tombstone.

Susan B. Anthony traveled extensively in support of women's suffrage, giving as many as 90 to 100 speeches per year while working on many state campaigns at the same time. She also worked internationally for women's rights, playing a key role in creating the International Council of Women and the organization is still active up today. She also helped to establish the World's Congress of Representative Women at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893.
