Brad Pitt News: Actor Returns To China After Tibet Ban

Brad Pitt has made a promotional appearance in China for the first time in 20 years, after he was initially banned from the country because of a film about Tibet.

Brad Pitt's 1997 film "Seven Years In Tibet," which was about an Austrian and his relationship with a young Dalai Lama, reportedly did not sit well with the Chinese government. They felt that it had portrayed the country's rule in the Himalayan region in an unfavorable light.

The actor spent 20 minutes at a media event in Shanghai on Monday, which was tightly controlled, promoting his new movie "Allied." He also took 40 minutes of his time talking and signing autographs for Chinese fans present at the said event, according to AOL.

The event was held with the intention of promoting "Allied," his latest film wherein he co-stars with French actress Marion Cotillard. Inside, reporters were banned from answering questions, with the event's host doing the asking of questions about the new film for the people in attendance.

Interests about the actor and his personal life are at an all-time high, as he is currently in a tumultuous divorce battle with Angelina Jolie. The former couple, popularly known as "Brangelina," had officially separated back in September, as announced by the actress's spokesperson.

Angelina Jolie filed for sole custody of their six children, with Brad Pitt only being given with visitation rights after it was alleged that he had abused them. He countered to have joint custody of the children. Recently, however, both had a direct conversation about the matter and reportedly came to an agreement. Around the same time, the allegations of abuse against Brad Pitt had come to an end.

"Allied," which is slated to be released next week, is set in World War II and tells the story of a Canadian intelligence officer (Pitt) and his French wife (Cotillard), who is a French resistance fighter. He then makes it his mission to clear her name after she is accused of being a spy for the Germans, according to the Daily Mail.
