`Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner’ Episode 1 Recap: Fried Chicken, Drinks, Great Friends And A Whole Lot Of Weed

VH1's newest television show featuring lifestyle queen, Martha Stewart, and "King Of Cush", Snoop Dogg, premiered last Monday. "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner' is a hybrid of a cooking show, talk show, game show, and music show. Many are calling this newest show "the show no one thought we needed".

Snoop Dogg perfectly sums up the creation of "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" in saying, "I'm not high, but whoever gave us this show must have been". Thankfully, VH1 took a risk and here we are watching this ridiculous but awesomely weird show.

"Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" follows a theme for each of their episodes and for the premiere,Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg are competing for the best fried chicken. Seth Rogen joins Snoop's team as his sous chef while Wiz Khalifa joins in Martha Stewart's team.

Before any cooking can happen, "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" host, Snoop Dogg, concocts his signature cocktail aptly named "The Laid Back" while the live audience sings along to "Gin and Juice". Meanwhile guests Seth Rogen and Wiz Khalifa have brought gifts for Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg. Seth Rogen brought the hosts a fire extinguisher while Wiz Khalifa brought a bag of Khalifa Kush (Wiz Khalifa's own brand of weed).

Throughout "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner", Snoop Dogg and the guests, literally and figuratively sprinkle weed throughout their conversations and on the chickens. No one, not even the so-called Ice Queen, Martha Stewart bats an eye at this.

Now onto the cooking, because essentially, "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" is still a cooking show. Snoop Dogg's cooking his 12-minute spicy barbecue-potato-chips encrusted fried chicken wings liberally sprinkled with weed while Martha Stewart's cooking a two-day brine, buttermilk-soaked fried chicken.

Ice Cube joins Seth Rogen and Wiz Khalifa to judge whose fried chicken is the best. "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" host Snoop Dogg even says a kick-ass grace with lines like "We're about to eat chicken that will make our fingers glisten". Seth Rogen says Snoop Dogg's wings has a lot of spice and kick to it meanwhile Wiz Khalifa's so ecstatic that he was on Martha Stewart's team judging the chicken perfectly seasoned, juicy and flaky. In the end, Ice Cube declares the best fried chicken contest a tie.

"Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" plays a chicken-themed game called "Two Truths And A Thigh" which is a play on two truths and a lie. We surprisingly get to learn that "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" host Snoop Dogg's best subject in high school was calculus. Interestingly enough, Martha Stewart killed a live chicken by feeding it vodka and cutting its head off and the lifestyle queen was hit by lightning thrice. Martha Stewart even quips that it's not the prison that makes you stronger, it's being hit by lightning. "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner" ends with the musical performance of rapper Anderson Paak.
