'Arrow Season 5' Updates: Get To Know The Mysterious Big Bad As Prometheus Rises In ‘So It Begins’

Mayor Oliver Queen and his new recruits just can't catch a break. Their last nemesis Tobias Church may already be dead, but another mysterious big bad is rising in the "Arrow Season 5" storyline: Prometheus. "Arrow Season 5" new episode teaser hinted that Prometheus will be a major character and that Oliver and his team will stop at nothing to find out his identity.

In "Arrow Season 5" latest episode entitled "So It Begins," the dark-hooded archer who calls himself Prometheus goes on a ruthless killing spree. Star City's Mayor by day and vigilante by night, Oliver, played by Stephen Amell, enlists his new recruits as well as his original team in an effort to find out who he is and ultimately stop him.

Nerdist interviewed Amell in while filming on the set of "Arrow Season 5" in Vancouver, Canada. Amell talked about the development of Prometheus' character. "We begin to explore why Prometheus is doing what he's doing. And to explore why he's doing what he's doing, we actually have to go back in our story. Which is interesting and something that I'm very proud that we're doing in a fifth season because we're calling back to a lot of familiar parts of our early days in the show," the reported quoted Amell.

Besides being a formidable villain to the Green Arrow, Prometheus is said to have a lot in common with Oliver. This makes him an even bigger threat to Team Arrow.

Cinemablend reports that Prometheus is possibly the greatest dark archer that the Green Arrow will go up against. More importantly, his true identity will be a shocker to Oliver and his team.

But that's not all that's new with "Arrow Season 5." Apparently, romance is also on the rise. Amell has hinted that a "love angle" is brewing between Mayor Queen and nosy reporter Susan Williams who is doing her very best to put Star City's golden boy down.

 Amell told Nerdist: "I do think that there will be some exploration of a certain element of romance between the two of them, and I hope that people enjoy it because I've found it to be really dynamic so far."
