‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 9 Update, Spoilers & News: Returns To Original Thursday Time Slot Hurt ‘Supergirl’?

"The Big Bang Theory" is back! The show is now on Season 9 and is scheduled to air this week. The show resumes its original Thursday night timeslot and is rumored to drag ratings of "Supergirl" down south.

According to The Big Bang Theory site, the current episodes of "Supergirl" are experiencing lower ratings relative to the ratings earned by its pilot episode. The site recalls that "The Big Bang Theory" was initially scheduled on the 8:00 PM timeslot on Mondays while "Supergirl" on the other hand aired on the 8:30 PM timeslot.

Design N Trend noted that "Supergirl" Episode 2 of the first season suffered a deep fall earning an all-time low 2.2 rating. This came as an unforeseen surprise to "Supergirl" since the debut of its pilot episode did fairly great. The show also suffered a great blow in terms of its percentage view from viewers in the 18 to 49 age bracket, sliding 29-points lower than its pilot run.

Reports recall that "Supergirl" was originally scheduled after "Big Bang Theory" to give its ratings a strategic boost. But obviously, the strategy did not work, in fact, it had a negative effect.

According to CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler, Thursday night is a strategic battlefield. Many top-rating television hits occupy a Thursday-night time slot, not to mention Thursday night Football. Tassler claims Thursday night allows them to strategically position the new season in the upcoming weeks.

Other analyst explain that aside from the time slot shift of "The Big Bang Theory", the downward performance of "Supergirl" ratings was also partly caused by superstar Rihanna. The singer was recently seen in a guest appearance on NBC's hit reality show "The Voice". With Rihanna, "The Voice" attracted more audience finishing wthe episode with a 3.2-high rating.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will release an episode entitled "The Spock Resonance" this week. Are you tuning in?
