Spoiled Kids: Every Parent's Nightmare?

Being a parent is never an easy task. It requires multitasking, physical and mental energy. Disciplining children and teaching them the do's and don'ts of the society is a 24-hour duty of parents.

Even though parents want to raise their kids to be a compassionate, well-behaved and well-mannered person in the society, there are times that they raise the opposite. In fact, parents sometimes make mistakes and due to their blind love for their children, they go to great lengths to provide the kids with everything they want and wish for.

The aforementioned statement is one of the reasons why children get spoiled. Learning to say no to a child is not a bad thing. Well, it may affect their moods for some time but they will learn a valuable lesson every time a "NO" comes their way.

In a survey conducted by CNN, Sara, a mom of three children, said "I feel like my children are never satisfied and happy with what they have, so that's really, I think, that's my issue," Sara's concerned also echoed the sentiments that raising unsatisfied children can lead to several unresolved issues in their adult lives.

That's why parents should teach their children to be happy and satisfied with the things they have. Show them what less privileged people have and don't have. That way, they get to realize the importance of things they often take for granted.

Parents should also make their children work hard to get what they desire, pay them rewards when they complete assigned tasks. Even if parents have the resources, it's best to never give in to child's demands. Try to negotiate and make them realize the worth of everything.

Giving children a tough time is not something bad. It will help shape up their personality. They will learn to tradeoff some things and understand situations life puts them in.
