'World Of Warcraft' News: Private Server Nostalrius Returns! Elysium Legacy Project To Take Over

Gamers, get ready! "World of Warcraft" server Nostalrius is finally returning under a new name! Nostalrius source codes and tools have been shared with the Elysium legacy project.

After receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Blizzard Entertainment, "World of Warcraft" private server Nostalrius went offline in April 2016. Executives from both sides met and discussed the reason behind the shutdown.

During the recent BlizzCon, the Nostalrius team announced their plan for legacy realms which can potentially fulfill the dreams of many "WoW" fans all over the world. As for Blizzard Entertainment, they revealed details for the "World of Warcraft: Legion" but left vanilla "WoW" on the side.

Subsequently, the Nostalrius team decided to take the matter into its own hands. How? By releasing the Nostalrius source code and tools to the community, particularly one private server which aims to revive Nostalrius.

The Nostalrius, given to the existing Legacy project - Elysium, is believed to share similar values of passion and volunteerism. According to a Nostalrius admin, their team will continue collaborating with Elysium.

The Elysium legacy project developers posted on Reddit which confirmed the change. Elysium announced that as a result of the transfer, all current characters have been saved and frozen.

Elysium expressed their gratitude by accepting the player database and core of Nostalrius. In addition to that, Elysium shared how their team is growing in number, most especially that Nostalrius came onboard. Elysium seeks to bring true Legacy servers to the private server community.

On the other hand, Blizzard Entertainment stood up amidst being bombarded by the Vanilla WoW topic. Blizzard is more than prepared to bring the matter to court if needed.

What keeps people wondering? It's the question that if Blizzard is prepared to pursue legal action against Nostalrius, why aren't they doing the same against Elysium?
