‘World of Warcraft 2’ Gameplay Leaked! Could This Be Blizzard’s Big 2017 Surprise Release?

"World of Warcraft" is considered as one of Blizzard's biggest titles. Rumors of a sequel are flooding discussion boards of the game's massive online community. Could this leak confirm the rumor of the secret development of the "World of Warcraft 2"?

A video taken via a hidden camera was uploaded to YouTube last Nov. 7 by BuckargVids. The leaked footage contains what claimed to be the gameplay of "World of Warcraft 2," which is reportedly currently being developed in secret by Blizzard. The video also contained some other information toward the end of the clip, pieces of information like the game's additional classes and race together with Blizzard's plans for the transition and price of the subscription.

"World of Warcraft," one of Blizzard's biggest MMORPG or Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, is currently losing subscribers. The game reached its peak in 2010 with 12 million subscribers, which made a dramatic decline to 10 million in 2014 and 5.5 million in 2015, according to Engadget. However, the sixth expansion of the game "Legion" was able to boost the number of subscribers back to 10 million since its release on Aug. 30.

The "World of Warcraft Legion" expansion raised "World of Warcraft's" features to a new and higher level of gameplay. The development team from Blizzard added the "Demon Hunter" as new "HERO class" who will start at Level 98. The level threshold was also increased for all players from 100-110.

Legion's PVP or "Player versus Player" feature was also enhanced and improved since the previous installments. According to  IGN, Blizzard is adopting a system, which is inspired by "Call of Duty's" Prestige leveling system.

"We see the Prestige system as a great way for players who aren't interested in pursuing higher rating, but still enjoy PvP, to have their own unique rewards to chase after," Blizzard said. A total of 36 unique "Artifact Weapons" specific to each class were also added, these weapons are only available in "Legion."

The Legion expansion has in one way or another saved the "World of Warcraft" from total demise. However, the world of online gaming is unpredictable and may change anytime. The boost brought by the Legion expansion may run for who knows when, and if the "World of Warcraft 2" is really in development as leaked in this video, then this is going to be Blizzard's secret weapon to ensure "World of Warcraft's" stand in the future of online gaming.
