Samsung Gear S3 Launch Date, Specs: New, Improved Smartwatch To Feature Quick, Easy Payment By Tapping Credit Cards

Samsung Gear S3, the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung this month, will be available in two unique selections, the Gear S3 Frontier and the Gear s3 Classic. Both devices sport the latest in mobile technology, including a built-in GPS and a long lasting battery life. Additionally, reports also claimed that the new Samsung Gear S3 series could be used to perform payment transactions because of its Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) capability.

The two Samsung Gear S3 variants differ in their connectivity settings. Samsung Gear S3 Frontier has an LTE connectivity feature while Samsung Gear S3 Classic can only connect through Wi-Fi. The wireless connectivity feature of Samsung Gear S3 will allow users to receive texts and emails when their smartphones are not accessible.

When it comes to design, the Frontier variant has a rugged look while the Classic version has a modern sleek design. Both Samsung Gear S3 variants, however, are equipped with built-in GPS that can track the user's walking and running activities. Moreover, its efficient battery is believed to last for up to four days of use with just a single charge.

Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch is also said to be the first wearable technology from Samsung with embedded with MST payment capability. This feature allows users to tap and swipe their credit and debit cards on the smartwatch to make secure mobile payments. Samsung has reportedly implemented the MST payment capability on Samsung Gear S3 to make the smartwatch more competitive in the smartwatch industry, MobilenApps reported.

In a report from Samsung News, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Wearable Business, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics Younghee Lee said, "A significant addition to our smartwatch portfolio, we drew inspiration from classic watch manufacturers to offer consumers a premium timepiece." Lee continued to say that, "The immensely intelligent Gear S3 is a testament to our focus on evolving and leading the wearables category and ultimately delivering a smartwatch unlike any other on the market."
