Shannen Doherty Confirmed To Star In 'Heathers' TV Land Reboot

Shannen Doherty has confirmed that she will take part in TV Land's reboot of the 1988 feature film classic "Heathers" in an undisclosed role.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star posted a snap of herself on the set of the show, which is a remake of the film of the same name that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. "Sneak peek from the #Heathers set..... jealous much?" she posted the photo on Tuesday to Instagram.

More information about Doherty's unnamed character is still under wraps, TV Land previously confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that her role would be "pivotal." The role is seen as a major step for her, being back in the spotlight after she started battling breast cancer in 2015.

"I think what's beautiful and hard and interesting about cancer is that it tears you down and builds you," Doherty said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "It remakes you so many different times. The person I thought I was supposed to be or was going to be or who I thought I was six months ago is now somebody completely different."

Just recently, her former "Beverly Hills, 90210" co-stars paid their tributes at the RewindCon, which took place in Bloomingdale, Illinois. "None of us are up here today without Shannen ... she's been through a lot," actor Luke Perry said, according to ABC News.

Black comedy "Heathers" tells the story about Veronica (Ryder), a teenager who sets off to kill a group of Heathers that comprise the all-girl popular clique in their school together with her sociopath boyfriend J.D. (Christian Slater). Newcomers Grace Victoria Cox and James Scully will play the roles originally played by Ryder and Slater respectively.

Viacom-owned cable network's TV reboot of the film will be reimagined as an anthology series, where each season will focus on a heroine having her own way of dealing with the Heathers in various settings. Production of the reboot is underway in Los Angeles. The pilot episode is written by Jason Micallef and directed by Leslye Headland.
