Russia's Soviet Star Painted Exactly Like Spongebob's Best Friend Patrick The Starfish

Who would have thought that a country as stringent as Russia can be a huge fan of the American cartoon character Spongebob? Recently, Russia's Soviet Star started to generate headlines when a picture of it painted exactly like Spongebob's best buddy Patrick the starfish went viral.

Seeing the revered symbol of communism vandalized in a comical way may not be how Russia wants it to get attention. The vandals painted the Soviet star in the liking of a "SpongeBob SquarePants" character Patrick the Starfish.

Tristate reported that the Department of Internal Affairs in the southeastern part of Voronezh would have to spend $1,500 US dollars to remove the paint and restore it to its original appearance. At the moment, they are still hunting down the culprits who pulled the stunt and have them pay the restoration.

The thrill-seeking pranksters behind the vandalism of a highly acclaimed symbol will be facing charges of hooliganism, Daily Mail noted. They will also be spending for up to 15 days in jail for doing such an obtrusive act.

The vandalism garnered many bizarre comments among the people who have seen it. The picture has now plagued the social media. While local photographer Paul Long commented that it is a manifestation of contemporary art, some believe that it is an insult to the symbol.

There is no doubt we all have the same question in mind: how on earth did they get up to the Soviet Star? The communism symbol sits right at the top of a high building inside Moscow´s Red Square. How did Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin react to this?

Presently, there are no updates from the authorities if the vandals have already been identified. To make matters worse, the Soviet star needs to stay dressed as Patrick the Starfish, until the cold windy weather subsides and repairs could ensue. In the meantime, Patrick the Starfish would have to reign over the Voronezh Oblast region.
